Fighting Crab

Fighting Crab


Materials List:

Egg Yarn - White, Tan or olive
Gamakatsu SL12S size 2 or 1
Bead Chain or dumbell
Deer Creek Micro Velvet Rope for pincer
ICE Dubbing in burn orange
Sililegs
Diamond UV resin
Glassy eye
Mono line 60lbs

Step by step tying instructions:

Prepare the thread base and tie in the bead chain

Tie in some ICE dubbing 

Tie in a pair of Glassy eye

Wind in some dubbing after the eye

Tie in the pincer just right after the dubbing

Tie in the mono line

Tie in the legs

Tie in the rest of the legs

Tie in some Egg Yarn at the middle of the hook

Trim the yarn

drop some Diamond UV resin to position the legs

Dry the resin with UV light

Fold over the balance of the mono line from the eye to form the guard

Trim the mono and the crab is ready for some coloring

Tying a Fighting Mantis

Fighting Mantis

Material List:

Shrimp eye
Sili legs or small rubber legs
ICE burn orange dubbing
Flashabou
soft zonker fiber
Deer Creek Baitfish Fiber
Bead chain - Pink/orange/brass
Saltwater Gamakatsu SL12S size 1/0 or 1


Step by step tying instruction:

Prepare the thread base and tie in bead chain / dumbell

 Tie in some ICE dubbing at the curve of the hook

Top up some soft Zonker fiber

Tie in a pair of flashabou, then tie in the shrimp eye

Tie in a pair of rubber leg and the mono line with 3 loose pcs of bead, dub it with some ICE dubbing

Fold the mono line over and tie down

Tie in the legs and dub with some ICE dubbing material


Tie in the DC Baitfish Fiber

Wind in some dubbing

Tie in DC Baitfish fiber, then trim it

Tie in DC Baitfish fiber, then trim it

Then fold the fiber forward... Continue tie in and trim until the end... just like you stacking deer hair

Now tie the mono line at the end

Trim the fiber to the shape your like

Play with markers for your desire colour or you can also play with different Baitfish Fiber colour..
