Cuban Shrimp - 2nd Version

Cuban Shrimp V2

Some Cuban Shrimp V2 

The original Cuban Shrimp which posted on the blog in June 2012, Check out the step by step for a easier version on this pattern... very effective for Bonefish in Cuba



In this version, I have make a few changes to the pattern by introduce a softer rubber leg from Montana Fly - Centipede Legs, some Orange color dubbing to imitate eggs carry by the shrimp, a pair of Pheasant tail fiber as antenna, Some Golden Pheasant tippet to add some colors and playing with 2 different colors of Chenille to create segment and colors to the body.

Materials:

Bead Chain
Orvis O'Shaugnessy Bend size 6 or Patridge John Holden Sea Hook size 4
Dubbing - Pink and Orange
Eye - Comb from my wife dressing ( LOL )
Antenna - Pheasant Tail fiber
Legs - Centipede rubber legs, Small and mini
Body - Chenille
Flashabou, Golden Pheasant Tippet and Woodchuck or Coyote hair

Step by step tying instruction:

Prepare your hook

Tie in the bead chain and the dub in some pink dubbing

Tie in a pair of Pheasant Tail fiber as antenna, and tie in some flashabou

Tie in some Golden Pheasant Tippet and also some fiber from Hen saddle

Now prepare the eye from beaded comb

Tie in the eyes and drop some super glue to secure it

Tie in a pair of Centipede leg and dub it with Orange color dubbing

Choose some hair fiber from Woodchuck, I like it cos they have nice guard hair

Tie in the hair

Tie in 2 pair of mini Centipede rubber legs, dub it with Orange dubbing

Tie in another batch of hair

Tie in 2 different color chenille, here I use Tan and Brown

Wind in the chenille

Whip finish, trim the chenille and drop some cement

The new version Cuban Shrimp is ready

Latex n Copper Nymph

Latex n Copper Nymph

This is my variation of Copper John... adding in the touch of Latex

Materials:

TMC 3761 size 8 - 10
Gold color Bead Head
Latex Strip cut from Latex Glove
Copper wire and lead wire
Goose Biot ( extra fine )
UV Flash
Dubbing
UV cure epoxy

Step by step tying instructions:

Prepare your hook, put in the Bead Head and wind in some lead wire

Cut a small pcs of Latex strip as shown above about 2mm width

Tie in the latex strip and copper wire ( here I use Hot yellow color ), prepare a taper body with your thread

Tie in a pair of extra fine Goose biot

Bring the copper wire bolow the hook, fold over the latex strip

Wind the copper wire 2 time over the latex and bring the wire below the latex

Fold the latex over and make wind 2 or 3 round on the hook

Fold the latex over again and wind the wire on it for 2 or 3 turn again

Repeat the same steps as above until about 1/4 from the hook eye

Trim the latex and tie down the wire and latex, tie in a pcs of UV flash

Tie in the latex strip cut to the thorax shape

Dub in some dubbing

Prepare a feather fro Ringneck Pheasant 

Tie in some feather's fiber at both side as legs

Fold over the Latex, tie down and trim away the extra

Fols ove the UV flash and tie down, trim away the extra, whip finish

Drop a small drop of UV cure epoxy, dry the epoxy with UV light

The Latex n Copper is ready

Brassie Bead Head Nymph

Brassie Bead Head Nymph
Materials:

Brass wire
Nymph hook 4x long
Goose biots as legs and tails
Dubbing
Brass Bead
Latex strip for thorax

Step by step tying instructions:

Put in the Brass Bead and prepare the hook

Spin in more thread at the end to create a bulk

Tie in 2 fine Goose biot as tail

Tie in the brass wire

Prepare the abdomen with dubbing

Wind in the brass wire

Brush out the dubbing

Tie in the Goose biots legs

Cut a psc of latex strip to the shape as shown

Tie in the latex strip

Wind in some dubbing

Fols the latex strip to create thorax and whip finish, trim the extra latex strip

Drop a small drop of UV cure epoxy

Dry the epoxy

The nymph is ready

Play with different color dubbing to create your desire nymph pattern
